The Canadian Roots of Tigercat 🍁

Founded in 1992 in Cambridge, Ontario, in collaboration with MacDonald Steel, Tigercat has established a strong presence in the forestry equipment industry. Despite the crowded market, Tigercat’s field research identified a need for more reliable and durable drive-to-tree feller bunchers, leading to the creation of the 726 feller buncher. This machine quickly gained recognition for its superior durability, reliability, and production capabilities. The success of the 726, along with Tigercat’s commitment to customer feedback and satisfaction, set a high standard that the company continues to uphold.

Tigercat has built its reputation on innovation and quality. Canadian craftsmanship is central to Tigercat’s identity, ensuring stringent quality controls and continuous product improvement. The “Made in Canada” label is a promise of excellence.

Feller Bunchers

Feller bunchers simplify the logging process by cutting and gathering trees. Tigercat’s feller bunchers are renowned for their speed and efficiency, supporting quick and safe tree felling and enhancing overall productivity. There are two types of feller bunchers Tigercat offers, a version with wheels and the other with tracks. If you are looking for a feller buncher with speed and handling on flat surfaces, the wheel configuration would be best for you. However, if your operations are located on soft or steep forestry environments, then the feller buncher with tracks would be ideal as they cover a range of high production and tough terrain felling applications.

Forestry Dozers

Forestry dozers are built for heavy-duty land clearing and site preparation tasks. Tigercat forestry dozers have robust frames and powerful engines to tackle rugged terrains, making them valuable in forestry operations. Their featured dozer, the TCi 920, excels in activities such as road construction, clearing decks, and removing stumps.

Forwarders

Forwarders play a vital role in transporting logs efficiently, designed for maximum load capacity and stability, reducing the time and effort needed for timber transport. They are articulated machines that consist of an operator’s cab and a log bunk, allowing them to carry logs fully suspended in bunks. This design minimizes soil disturbance as the logs are not dragged along the ground.

Harvesters

Tigercat harvesters are engineered for high productivity and precision, crucial in the logging process to ensure optimal timber harvest. Equipped with advanced features, they excel in various forestry applications. Tigercat offers harvesters with wheels or tracks, enabling them to operate in various terrains, including level to moderately steep areas, and are highly effective in clearcutting and thinning operations.

Log Loaders

Tigercat log loaders are designed for efficient material handling, offering unparalleled versatility. They handle various tasks, from loading logs to moving heavy materials, enhancing overall operational efficiency. Using log loaders enhances safety by minimizing the need for manual handling of heavy logs, reducing the risk of injuries to workers.

Processors

Processors are specialized machines designed to handle the processing of felled trees. They are equipped with a processing head that can delimb, debark, and cut trees into specified lengths, a process known as bucking. These machines are typically used at the roadside or landing area where the trees have been transported by skidders or forwarders.

Shovel Loggers

Tigercat shovel loggers are powerful machines used for steep slope logging and challenging terrain. They are equipped with a closed loop track drive system, which ensures quick, responsive, and efficient machine travel. Shovel loggers can be fitted with either a large capacity bunching grapple or a shovel clam grapple, making them versatile for various logging tasks.

Skidders

Skidders are indispensable in moving felled trees from the forest, built for power and endurance, ideal for heavy-duty tasks, and preferred for their ability to tackle rugged terrains. Tigercat offers two types of skidders: cable skidders and grapple skidders. Cable skidders use cables to wrap around logs and pull them, requiring an additional operator to manage the cables. Grapple skidders, on the other hand, use a tongs-like grappling system attached to a boom, making them more efficient as they do not require a second operator.

Innovation and Technology in Tigercat Equipment

Tigercat’s dedication to innovation sets its equipment apart in the logging industry. The company prioritizes cutting-edge technology to enhance machine performance, with advanced electronics and hydraulics as hallmarks of their design strategy. Research and development play a key role in Tigercat’s success, ensuring their equipment remains at the forefront of the industry.
